    Syrahs

    Que Syrah
    Sonoma Coast

A wine of medium body, intense focus and a deep blue-purple core. Perhaps the coolest-climate planting of Syrah in California, the vineyard produces aromas of black currant, black pepper, spice and cured meat. Floral and slight medicinal qualities also share the nose. An interesting mix of creaminess and firm tannin on the palate gives nice structure, as does the well-integrated toasted oak character. Que Syrah has a classic Syrah profile comparable to that of some Northern Rhone wines.

    Thieriot Syrah
    Petaluma Gap

A vineyard of heavy marine influence which lends to the relatively low alcohol and mouthwatering citrus character of the wine. It is surprisingly deep magenta in color. Aromas of damp earth and menthol are followed by a refined and structured elegance on the palate. A pleasant acidity gives way to a finish of firm raspberry bittersweet chocolate and a lingering minerality, a result of the incredibly sandy soil of this piece of land. Enjoyable now but sure to integrate nicely with time.

    Vivio Syrah
    Bennett Valley

Although not of the Sonoma Coast appellation, Vivio Vineyard is still affected by the cool weather and climate of San Pablo Bay. Interwoven with aromas of cigar tobacco, cherry, lavender, clove, creamy vanilla and smoky cured ham. The most robust of the three Syrahs, Vivio is full of fine ripe tannin and nicely balanced. We fermented with ten percent whole clusters and co-fermented an additional three percent Roussanne for added floral characteristics and mouth feel.
